Spanish Classes

As a native speaker growing up in Costa Rica, I received all my elementary education in Spanish. Conversation, fluency, spelling and grammar were solidified during those early years of life. Upon moving to California, learning English as a second language became a priority, but at home and with friends Spanish has continued to remain the norm.

Professionally, I have spent the last 13 years of my life working as a Spanish linguist. I started teaching elementary school students back in college and currently teach all ages and grade levels. Spanish is not only my first language but the skill that led me into my career.

I offer Spanish instruction through a Charlotte Mason/Waldorf approach. The goal is to get our students to think and speak about all of life in Spanish. Narration is a key component and one we will be doing often. Through a combination of learning simple sentences, by hearing and reading, singing, writing and/or acting them out and narration we will create more connections in the brain to help us remember and in doing so we’ll be well on our way to speaking Spanish increasingly and more confidently.
